Bob Hall’s Legacy: Celebrating 50 Years of Wheelchair Racing at Boston Marathon

Long before most Boston Marathon runners even reach the Newton Hills, a group of forty athletes is already miles ahead. Swiss wheelchair racer Marcel Hug, known as “The Silver Bullet,” led the pack this year and finished the race in a blazing 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 34 seconds.

Hug claimed his eighth Boston Marathon victory, but this year carries more weight, he says. It marks the 50th anniversary of wheelchair racing at the Boston Marathon, honoring the legacy of Bob Hall, who first crossed the finish line in a wheelchair back in 1975. (...)

Boston City Councilor Faces Corruption Charges Over $7,000 Kickback Scheme

Federal prosecutors arrested Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson Friday morning, accusing her of conspiring with a family member to steal $7,000 from the city. An indictment released Friday alleges the councilor gave a relative on her City Council staff $13,000 in bonuses, with the condition that the relative return thousands of dollars to her. According to the government, the transaction took place in a City Hall restroom. (...)
